Pastor Dave's Children's Message
Are you guys having a good day today? Alright.
Who would like to look in The Purple Bag this morning?
Let's let
Elizabeth.
Elizabeth.
[Inaudible]
It's a stick.
Just be careful with the stick.
You can just pull it out of there, Elizabeth.
All your strength.
You have to pull.
You have to pull.
Viv, you wanna stick?
Anything else, Elizabeth?
Anything else, Elizabeth?
[Elizabeth continues to search in The Purple Bag]
Well, another stick.
Well, another stick.
[Elizabeth still searching in The Purple Bag]
Ahhhh ... a rock!
Ahhhh ... a rock!
Rocks and sticks. What do you know about rocks and sticks?
Rocks and sticks. What do you know about rocks and sticks?
Well, did you guys know that there's a saying about
How 'bout sticks and ... stones ...
What about sticks and stones? Do you know what that is,
William? [Inaudible] Sticks
and stones may break my bones but words may never hurt me.
Is that true?
Is that a true statement?
So then if I called you a little
nasty brat,
would that hurt you?
No. That would make you feel happy. Right?
Nooo. So words DO
kind of hurt us sometimes, don't they?
Words are important because the things that we say
can hurt people's feelings. It can make them
feel VERY bad about themselves. Not like a ...
a rock. If I took a rock and hit Brandon on the head and
then there would be blood coming out ... that would
heal, but when we use words that are not
nice ... words that hurt other people ...
they can carry that around for ... with them,
for a very long time. And when we hurt other
people we're not showing them the love of Jesus.
Because Jesus didn't come to hurt people,
He came to show them His love. How did Jesus show His love
for people? How did Jesus show His love for you?
Brendon? [Inaudible]
Well, He forgave our sins. So how can we show our love
for other people then?
What are some ways that we can show His love to other people?
William? [By forgiving them] By forgiving them.
Ariel? [Inaudible] By helping them when they're hurt.
How 'bout with what we say?
How can we help other people by what we say? Viv?
You can say nice things. What's a nice thing?
Nice things. Yes. Okay, now Viv, say ... say it again?
[Inaudible] Okay, what would be a nice word?
What can you turn to Ariel and say is a nice word?
[Inaudible]
[Inaudible]
Okay, "please" that's a good word. "Thank you".
How about Ariel: Ariel, your hair looks very pretty today!
See? Ariel smiled. Better than calling her
a nasty brat.
Which we wouldn't wanna do. So today
we remind ourselves that because Jesus loves us,
we will want to love Him and show our love to other people,
especially whenever we talk to them and talk about them.
Anybody have any questions?
Yes, Viv?
[When I have a party ...
when I have a party I can invite friends to my house]
That's right. That's a nice thing. And if they let you
come to their party, you can say: Thank you
for letting me come to your party. Right?
So they're all nice things. So any other questions?
So you guys can ... oh yes,
Elizabeth?
[Inaudible]
[Inaudible] If someone comes to your birthday party you can
say: Please come to your birthday party and then
they can say: Thank you. And that would be nice.
So! You guys can go back to your moms and dads and we'll
join together in our Hymn-of-the-Day.
