Hello and welcome to BBC Today we have the honour of speaking to the one and only William Shakespeare Good day Good day So Mr. Shakespeare, tell us about yourself Well, I was born on the 23rd of April 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon. Over my life I've had three brothers and three sisters. My parents were John and Mary Shakespeare. I had a good childhood and in 1582 I got married to Anne Hathaway. So, what were your life's occupations? Well, I worked as a playwright, actor and poet. I joined the Lord Chamberlain's Men in 1594 which a few years later was called the Lord Hud sons Men but in 1596 was soon reverted back. And the globe? Well, after having trouble with previous landlords of our previous theatre we decided to build our own theatre and we called it "The Globe" but it was destroyed during a fire caused by an accident with a cannon in Henry WIII. But then it was closed. Ah yes! that was annoying, between 1593 and 1594 we had to close the theatre because of an outbreak of bubonic plague but I kept my success by releasing a narrative poem: "Venus and Adonis". So how about your plays? Well I wrote many genres such as histories, comedies, tragedies, romances and tragicomedies, so my most famous plays are Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Midsummer Night's dream but one I want to talk about is The Merchant of Venice, the story involves a greedy Jewish moneylender but when the Merchant of Venice comes begging for money Shylock, the moneylender demands a pound of flesh as interest Intense Very So just one more question, you died on the 23rd of April 1616 so how are you here? Well I'm a ghost Oh! well that's cool, so thank you for the interview and thank you, Shakespeare away
