Erik Michielsen, Capture Your Flag: How are you learning to work more effectively with different personality types?
Simon Sinek, Author & Public Speaker: This is the definition of diversity, right? It's not about color or religion you know.
Diversity is about perspective and to be open to the idea that other people have a life experience:
because of the way they grew up, because of their religion, because of their color, because of their socioeconomic background, whatever it is
they bring a perspective to the table. And I think that the ability to work with people unlike you starts with curiosity.
There's a study that I just read recently that was published in some European management journal
how organization that think they know everything, that think they're experts, they actually produce systemic stupidity
because they lose their sense of curiosity. They think they have nothing to learn, and it literally creates
what we would cause 'stupid', because you can only see one thing you know. You become dogged that that's the answer, you know.
So I think curiosity is very much the source, not only of innovation, but the ability to collaborate with others unlike you.
