Hi, I'm Richard Robbins
with a 10 x 10 update
from the Los Angeles Office; we
have a few exciting bits of news
in our first video update.
Relating to our writers,
we have three new writers
who have joined the project;
Marie Arana, Aminatta Forna
and Mona Eltahawy for
the countries of Peru,
Egypt and Sierra Leone.
Marie Arana is a novelist; she
spent many years as the Editor
of the Washington
Post Book Review
and she's a phenomenal
writer, a Peruvian American.
We couldn't be more excited
to have her joining us
for the Peru Chapter.
Aminatta Forna from Sierra
Leone has written a memoir
and two novels that
have caused quite a stir
in the literary world and
Sierra Leone is an incredibly
compelling and important country
in the story of girl's education
and so it's going to be a
really exciting adventure
to have her writing the Sierra
Leone chapter for the film.
And lastly, Mon Eltahawy
in Egypt;
Mona is primarily a
journalist and a commentator
so she's working a little bit
outside of her comfort zone
in working with us but
we're just so impressed
with her voice, her
outspoken stance
on issues in the Middle East.
She's Egyptian American, as you
might imagine based in New York
and she's actually on her way
to Egypt right now, as we speak.
We'll be joined by Jenna Millman
from our team in a couple days
in Egypt and starting to
get to work on a profile
of a remarkable young woman in
Egypt that we are really excited
to be bringing to you.
So that's all for
now, more soon.
