♪ music playing ♪ [7x7 Experience Distractions] >> When you're driving distracted and your mind is off the road, it's very dangerous. We mentioned distracted driving before, but we're talking about it again because it's such a big deal. What's the biggest distraction? Our cell phones, right? You need to keep your phone out of the way. This means putting your phone in a place where it won't bother you or your rider. What if you're driving, and halfway through the trip, you have to look at your GPS? It's not safe to look away from the road for too long. Plus, if you're holding your phone and looking at it, your rider will get scared, because that's not safe. And in many areas, holding your phone while driving is illegal. If a rider is scared in your car, they're having a bad experience. Instead, use a holder on the far left of the windshield. Now you can see your phone if you need to, but you aren't looking away from the road for more than half a second. A holder in the center of your dashboard is okay, too. But make sure your phone's brightness is set to automatic, and remember, this is not a time to be answering personal phone calls or text messages. We also recommend having a bluetooth device, so if you do need to contact a rider while driving, you can do it hands-free. Sometimes, we really hit it off with our riders. But I know if I'm having a great conversation, I might not be paying as much attention to the road. It can be important for safety to let your rider do most of the talking so that you can keep your attention on the road. If your rider is distracting you with conversation, you can say something like, "I'm so sorry, I need to pay attention to the road." If you do keep extras like water or gum in your car, make sure you can reach them without looking away from the road. If your thoughts are distracting you because you're bored or stressed out, take a break. When we're driving, the most important thing is that we pay attention to the road around us. So eliminate distractions. [Distractions Review] [Let your rider do most of the talking!] [What else can you do to eliminate distractions?] ♪ music playing ♪
