Hi, my name is Kristen Polous,
I'm the general manager of the
Industrial Cybersecurity Business at Tripwire,
and today I'd like to talk to you about whose responsibility
it is for industrial cybersecurity
and securing OT environments.
I know it's a cliche, but it's everybody's responsibility.
To be clear, we have seen a consolidation
of direct responsibility coming underneath the CISO
and that's really important,
because a lot of the lessons that have been learned
from IT security can now be applied.
But it's also important to take the intimate expertise
that people from the OT environments have,
People like controls engineers,
even plant managers, they should have a say
and at least be a stakeholder in industrial cybersecurity projects.
Third and finally, it's also really important
for people in the C-suite and business owners
to take a stake
and think of industrial cybersecurity projects as important.
It's not just about being secure,
but it can even help affect your bottom line.
Think about an hour of saved, unplanned downtime.
That's something any business unit leader or even CEO
is going to care about, and can often pay for
whatever investment was required for cybersecurity.
So lots of stakeholders and responsibility that we see out there,
and everybody should play their part.
