This speech which I publicly gave on December 21 2012 from 10:12 pm italian time
repeats some demostrations from my book in a simplified way: "the nature of existence."
In the first five parts of this video I prove that God not only exists but is a certainty.
while in the second five parts I prove that our soul,
or more precisely, our personality, is eternal.
CERTAINTY OF GOD Example of a sure thing
As a first step I will explain what I mean by certainty, through the example of something we can be 100% sure of.
to achieve this goal I will show how some of the things that we consider certain are actually uncertain.
For example, we can not be 100% sure of the existence of the objects we perceive,
because no matter how unlikely, we could be a brain connected to a computer
able to stimulate our senses and then make us perceive something that does not really exist.
We can not be even 100% sure of the existence of mathematical truths,
because no matter how unlikely, some parts could exist in the universe where
when we couple an object with another each of them is doubled
and therefore the usual mathematical truth shall no longer be valid: “1+1=2” but “1+1=4”.
We can not be even 100% sure of the existence of death,
because no matter how unlikely, the reality in which we live could exist as such
within a dream, and death corresponds to the interruption of this dream
and awakening in true reality, where perhaps you realise that you are eternal.
We can not be 100% sure that there is not something detached from us,
because no matter how unlikely, things that we experience may be our own creation
and we do not realize it as usually happens in a dream
We can not be 100% sure even of our identity as individuals, because no matter how unlikely
we could be part of the dream of another person, and then possess the other person's true identity and not ours.
But we can be 100% sure that something exists:
perhaps there are no objects that we see around us, perhaps there are no events we see happening,
maybe we do not exist ourselves as individuals, but as we experience perceptions
at least these as such exist.
And because something exists, we can be 100% sure if nothing else, of the marks of existence.
CERTAINTY OF GOD Definition of God
We can define God as being at the same time immanent and transcendent
to the forms and dynamics of observable universe.
In order to fully understand this definition, you need to make some important considerations.
First, if we limit ourselves to an immanent God
thus composed of every shape and every observable dynamic
we would hence have to do with a God that is one with the universe
as well as for example our body which coincides with the set of parts of which it is composed.
To claim instead that He is also transcendent implies that these shapes and these dynamics
Cannot in any way circumscribe Him in time or in space.
In other words, these shapes and these dynamics can no longer be considered as a part of God,
but should instead be considered as one of His many facets.
We would hence have to do with a God that interacts with the universe
as a mind would act toward objects of its imagination.
Among other things, considering the entire universe in all its forms and in all its dynamics
as the expression of a single principle, implies attributing this principle to the classical characteristics of God.
For example, we can consider Him omnipotent
as the power to make all come true,
omnipresence as the power to be present everywhere,
and finally omniscience as the power to know the causes of everything that happens
CERTAINTY OF GOD Immanence of existence
The marks of existence has another peculiarity besides that of being 100% sure.
I am referring to the fact that we find it in every form and in every dynamic observable in the universe.
For example, I myself possess the marks of existence like the wall behind me.
Even my every move has the mark of existence,
as well as my voice in its succession in time.
In other words, whatever we consider as part of the universe,
will certainly have the mark of existence apart from all its forms and from all its dynamics.
CERTAINTY OF GOD Transcendence of existence
Although all the objects that make up the universe are endowed with the mark of existence,
it is inappropriate to speak of more distinct lives,
But a mere single existence encompassing every form and every observable dynamic as an expression of itself.
For example, I took two objects of any shape as a square and the cross in my hand;
we cannot consider the existence of one very distinct from that of the other,
simply because existence cannot differ from itself.
In fact, whatever differs from existence, would be as such inexistent
and we would not be able to take it into consideration.
Among other things we also have at our disposal a tool that allows us to prove
how existence can transcend both the forms and observable dynamics:
and consists of the nervous system.
In fact, if I asked you the shapes of the objects in my hand
you would immediately say: a square and a cross.
This is because the nervous system is able to recognize shapes directly.
If I asked you what is the dynamics of the object in my hand
you would immediately say: a circular motion.
This is because the nervous system is able to recognize the dynamics directly.
But if I asked you to tell me if the square exists, you will need to begin with the acknowledgement
that you have to establish the existence of this square, because only then can you confirm or not.
In essence, our nervous system is able to determine both the shapes and the dynamics directly,
while it needs a comparison operation to determine whether something exists.
And this means that the shapes and the dynamics fail to grasp in themelves our notion of existence.
CERTAINTY OF GOD God is a certainty
We have defined God as immanent and transcendent to the shapes and dynamics observable in the universe,
and we have seen how existence possesses both of these characteristics.
We can therefore conclude that what we identify with the term existence is nothing but God.
And because we know that existence is 100% sure, God does not only exist but is also a certainty.
If we have any difficulty in identifying God with existence
it is because we have been accustomed to conceive Him in anthropological terms,
as a being endowed with the will and other human characteristics,
that have nothing to do with those we acknowledge in existence.
The truth is that no entity has the human characteristics that could ever represent God,
because if these characteristics could limit His nature,
we could no longer attribute Him the properties of transcendence.
But God is transcendent, and as such His nature
He shall never be limited by the categories of our thought.
We limit ourselves only to identify His relationship with the universe
as a mind would act toward objects of its imagination.
IMMORTAL SOUL The nature of space
As we have seen, the universe is the result of what is expressed in existence.
Existence overflows in itself and what emerges is its inherent wealth.
In this context, space is simply the ability of existence
to select some of its wealth while keeping intact their individuality.
To better understand this concept, let's assume that the intrinsic wealth existence
consist simply of a black square, a green square and a yellow square.
In this case, space will be represented by the capacity of the following sheet
to use these squares to represent at the same time for example, a black box
a green line and a yellow cross.
In essence space is what allows existence to compose each form observable in the universe
through its intrinsic wealth.
IMMORTAL SOUL The nature of time
As regards time it is nothing more than the capacity of existence
to select some of its wealth sequentially keeping intact their individuality.
To better understand this concept, let us assume once again
that intrinsic wealth existence consist simply
of a black square, a green square and a yellow square.
In this case, time will be represented by the capacity of the following sheets to come in succession.
It is interesting to observe how the tricolor line has been represented by the above sheets in separate locations.
And this fact has made it assume a precise dynamic trend:
in particular a rectilinear movement from left to right.
In essence space is what allows existence to compose each dynamic observable in the universe
through its intrinsic wealth.
IMMORTAL SOUL The nature of existence
If in time and space existence assumes the shapes and dynamics that constitute the universe,
in its objective dimension beyond time and space
it shall be compoded of the superposition of all its intrinsic wealth.
This means that in this dimension not only is existence eternal because it cannot be changed into anything else,
but so are all the wealths that comprise it.
To better understand this concept, let us assume once again
that intrinsic wealth existence are formed by squares of different colors.
Hence their overlap is given by a square whose color will be the sum of their colors.
So we will have a white square, which shall have
to keep all squares of which it is composed intact to maintain its original nature.
IMMORTAL SOUL Our individuality
To understand the relationship between existence and our individuality we must first find out what it is.
If our individuality depended on our body, our ability to be ourselves
should vary based on its integrity, health and old age. But this does not happen.
If our individuality rather depended on our memories, our ability to be ourselves
should vary according to the amount and content of our past experiences. But this does not happen.
If our individuality on the contrary depended on the perceptions of the present moment,
our ability to be ourselves should vary according to the amount and content
of the stimuli to which we are exposed. But this does not happen.
Our individuality cannot even depend on consciousness considered as the act of observing,
because the perception of existence that distinguishes it is entirely impersonal
and ignores everything that affects us intimately.
What we are does not, therefore, depend on the act of observing,
but the fact of being the specific observer that we are, or that indistinct thing
to which all perceptions that we experience converge time after time.
To better understand this concept it is sufficient to observe
how we can create a fictitious person using our imagination.
What we do is devise a precise idea of the person we want to imagine,
at the same time making that person the permanent and unchanging object of all the experiences that we shall share.
Essentially we replicate against the fictitious person the same dynamic
that allows our individuality to be identical time after time.
IMMORTAL SOUL Our individuality is eternal
Our individuality is something unique such as red,
which cannot be described in another way if not as red.
In other words our individuality is not the composition in time or in space
of various wealths distinct from one another, but is instead one and only wealth.
This means that our individuality will be part of the wealth that existence is made of
in its objective dimension beyond time and space and as such will be eternal.
In essence, when our individuality stops being expressed in time and space,
for example in connection with a body; it shall continue to exist as part of God.
