Carving a Jack-O-Lantern

My friends Gerard and Chase spent an afternoon with their mum and dad
carving and painting pumpkins!
Gerard and his dad started to carve their pumpkin
by drawing the face on the pumpkin
with a marker.
Gerard's dad used a special knife
to cut a circle around the stem,
then Gerard got to pull the top off
and see inside
-What's in there? -Seeds!
Then, they cut out the shapes to make a face
And meanwhile, Chase and his mum painted a pumpkin face.
-What's she painting? -That could be a nose.
Look! They're using the insides as hair!
And you can make up pumpkin games too!
-Let's pretend to make pumpkin soup
And it's always yummy to toast pumpkin seeds!
When a face is carved into a pumpkin,
a grown-up can light up the face
by placing a candle inside,
then, it's called the Jack-O-Lantern!
How about that?
