[♪ music ♪] Welcome, we're here to celebrate International GIS Day here at the Transport for New South Wales GeoForum. We've got a full agenda here today, we've got a guest speaker from State Records, talking about the history of mapping. We also have Richard Lemon speaking about aerial imagery captured in 1949 and how it's evolved to imagery captured here today. Basically, today is a day where we celebrate Geography and the awareness of Geography throughout our society. Geography has evolved quite extensively over the last 10 years, we've seen transformation from 2D through to 3D. We're starting to see our mobile phones telling us where we need to go and what we need to do, as opposed to reading a topographic map. We feel that times are changing, and people want to consume information differently. It's time to make the plethora of information that we have available to public, to make it fun, and to make it easier for people to use it for their daily purposes, for their analytical purposes or for just information really. Basically we're trying to get everyone here together who's interested in geospatial technologies to be able to collaborate, learn and achieve greater things working together to build a better city. Hi, I'm Jeremy, manager of Spatial Systems, a unit for Transport of New South Wales. I've been running the Geoforum event for five years now. We organize external guest presenters and an arrangement in our staff and that is all about how to use spatial technologies. The event is a fantastic, professional event, and that qualifies for continuous professional development points through the Spatial Sciences Institute. We've held the GeoForum event twice a year. The next event will focus on environmental and the use of GIS and spatial technologies for the environment. It's very exciting and I can't wait to see the presentations that we have lined up for that one.
