RUMOURS - Whale Evolution
Torah Kachur: Whales have pelvises.
Pelvises are for anchoring legs.
Whales don't have legs.
Dumb.
The whale pelvis is an evolutionary artifact,
a leftover from its days as a walking, breathing animal on land.
Mounting evidence suggest that whales evolved from split-hooved ancestors.
In other words, hungry, hungry hippos.
Obviously, hippos are hippos, and whales are whales.
Now, with the transition from land-dwelling to sea-dwelling mammals
likely occurred over millions of years,
starting about 50 million years ago.
And probably, these ancestral hippos slowly preferred the water more and more,
because they had evolved a new niche.
More access to food, or escape from predators.
This evidence for evolution?
The existence of a whale pelvis for one,
the presence of primitive whale fossils
showing feet-first birthing, like hippos,
although now whales birth head-first.
And the fact that whales are mammals is a pretty good indication too.
I mean, creating an air-breathing sea creature is really dumb.
And if I was the flying spaghetti monster,
it would hardly be my proudest moment.
