I like storytelling, that's the reason I'm a journalist.
For a lot of immigrant members of the community, they need to know what happened.
Language barriers are always a big obstacle for a lot of immigrants.
My work is to be the bridge.
Those are the moments that I feel like yes, journalists are also essential workers.
Because of the pandemic and the virus originated from Asia,
Asian American community has been facing a lot of racism and violence against us.
So that's one of my major focus.
This triple crisis, fighting the virus, financial hardships, and also dealing with the racism and violence.
Hopefully if we expose some problems of our society, it might bring some change,
and leads to a more equal world.
You're still a human being, you have to feel what's happening so you can tell the story in a more human way.
During this crisis, people are more willing to help each other because the pandemic exposed people's vulnerability, people's weak points.
There's no borderline for the virus.
I think Chinese American community are very resilient.
When we are telling Asian American stories, we are telling American stories.
When you are facing a big challenge or obstacle you utilize your strength and power to rise.
