[What does it mean to be a modern family?]
[Mr. Windham] I think in today's context, we're a modern family
because families don't live in the same geographic area as they used to.
Families are more heterogeneous,
and there's a lot more public acknowledgement of that,
with respect to interracial partnerships,
with respect to gender,
with respect to many different things.
So in that respect, yeah, we're a modern family.
[How were things different when you were growing up?]
[Ms. Windham] We represent the modern family
in that there are certainly more biracial children particularly.
I also believe that we change the way we view things,
the way we view categories,
or the way people have chosen
to describe themselves as individuals.
And I think in that way, we represent the modern family.
