We’re out in the black hills outside of Sturgis, South Dakota with Moto Guzzi. They’re launching their new MGX-21 Flying Fortress. This thing is a carbon dream, how cool is it to see a carbon fiber clad bagger? I mean, you normally see these kinds of things in custom shops. The thing is designed to get attention and the couple of places I’ve stopped people have come up to me and said: “what the hell is that?” And so, it must be working. The carbon fiber bags, the wheel cover, it’s just a really really high-tech looking motorcycle and in terms of performance it delivers. It’s everything that a Moto Guzzi is and is a solid chassis, works really well on the corners, brakes work good, fueling is smooth. Nice, progressive throttle response, not too abrupt, great torque, really smooth at highway speeds, it just works all around. You know, it’s appropriate that they’re unveiling it out at Sturgis, it's just the perfect bike to be hitting the hills on, it’s got an incredible lean angle and we’ve been having a lot of fun just getting in it this week. They’ve got the electronics integrated into it, you’ve got a three-level traction control system plus you’ve got ABS Brembo brakes, a radio in it, you can hook up, you got bluetooth audio, overall just a package that offers so much. No one else is doing motors like this, bikes like this, these things are completely unique, which is just fabulous, I love to see this kind of stuff. What was more important for us was the possibility of Guzzi looking ahead, not looking to the past anymore. It has tradition but we are always looking ahead like in this case with the MGX-21.
