[ momi no dan ]
Hear me! Hear me!
Let there be happiness! Let there be happiness!
I will not give up this job to anyone else.
The heavenly stone door will today be thrown open for this first staging.
A thousand ages, ten thousand ages.
And to flowery Edo's patronage
I presumptuously perform this dance.
Like the mere crow trying to fly like the magnificent crane.
[ suzu no dan ]
So it is.
The first day is for first prayers, complete perfection.
The second day is the second pillar.
And Uzume, goddess of dance,
goes one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.
A hundred, thousand, ten thousand dancing sleeves.
The fifth-month's young wife embroiders the edges of her hat,
singing to the planting of the seedlings.
A thousand towns.
Ten thousand towns.
Millions of thousands of towns.
The fields abound.
The fields abound.
Abound, abound, abound!
And to sow the fields
let us buy a nice hat.
Once we've got a hat
we're ready to sow.
The third day is prosperity and good fortune.
The bounty of children, seated in a circle.
Pause, be, let go, strike.
With a fire pouch dangling there.
This is the tradition of Shikisan.
We dance this on the third day.
The green of the willow, the crimson of the flowers,
innumerable
the grains of sand on the beach
Even if these should end, there is no end to songs.
As with the people of the country ruled by the Shikishima gods.
May they flourish!
