You wanna try something? You see this candle right here? Of course I see the candle. OK! I just want you to look into the light of this candle...and take a deep breath. Take a deep breath? Ya, really deep! Now, what do I do? Can I breath out? Yes, you may breath out! Sort of like this.... I just want you to focus on the light of the candle until you feel that you and light of the candle are one. Till I am..... the light of the candle? Yeah!.....What are you afraid of? Me? No, the woman standing behind you. Now, come on, let's concentrate on the candle, take a deep breath... Let's breath real deep...and focus onto the light of the candle. Keep breathing... Breath! And stare into the sun of the candle. Focus on the light of the candle... ...as though you and the sun are one being.??? Make the candle light....You! Concentrate......and breath! You are the light! Breath...breath..... Make the light you! You are the light! What happened? It feels like that??? after your first attempt of meditation breathing. Wow! Wow! I feel so peacefully...you know? Yeah!... Till we're peacefully, we have to think that time doesn't matter??? ...we have to forget the time now as breathing is life! Don't you feel like you had a rest? Yeah......yeah! Was I hypnotized or something? No....you were just in sort of a state of....self relaxing expanded awareness. It´s a big one, huh? Breathing is an involuntary act. You can learn to rejuvenate that way easily. If you learn to control your breathing.....you´ll live a longer life! Really? A sort of like a giant tortoise! He breathes about four times a minute, lives about to be 200 years old. Interested in living a longer life? Not till 200 years! Hm....ar you interested in living a long life? Me? No, the guy standing behind you! Oh, him? Me, no.....not really! In fact I just want to get home. I looked back over the river...I shivered in the cold and marveled at how our life had???? ...how happy! I thought about Gerry... Where was he? What was he doing right now? And...was he happy? I remembered Hawaii. Ah.....you know....if I could put together the joy that I feel right now and the satisfaction I get from my work....now I would be a happy man! I know what you mean! I'm not complaining! I always assumed that I start from zero, so everything after that is a plus! I don't. I assumed I can start anything I wanted and I can go anywhere I wanted to go. But that's me, I guess.....I've just want it all! You want Paradise! My "Milton sense," it was lost a long time ago.... I didn't think so. Try to xxxx Paradise, isn't it? - Sure it is! Let's go get some chaw (chewing tobacco)... I wonder if I'll be able to sleep in this bolt. Well, I'll have some hot milk for us xxxxx I'll make them stew some meat and vegetables and mountain herbs...??? XXXX it's very, very, very tasty! It smells so good I could eat this door... Buenas noches!...-Buenas noches! Entren, Señor....pasen....-Idamira? Nice to see you again, Mr. David! Hola! Tienen mi guiso y mi leche caliente? (do you already have my stew and my warm milk?) Está todo listo! (everything is ready) Bueno!......mi amiga, Shirley! Hello! -Hello! How do you do? -Nice to meet you! -Thank you! Ahora traigo la leche(I'll get now the milk) Mr. David - Gracias! She speaks English? - Ihm...I teach her a little every time I come here.... How often do you come here? I've been coming here on and off for about eight years. 8 years? Why? Well, something happened here and changed my life. What? I'll tell you about it that some other time. Now.....tomorrow.....we'll go for a long walk and I'll show you this place... and you'll see for yourself why I like it so much. OK! I hate this! ??? Oh......those stars! They're like zircon plums close enough to pluck! I like the way you use words.... Oh, thank you! - Careful! No, that's not a compliment; that's a statement of fact. You use words well! - Thank you! Especially those two! - Which two? - Thank you! Thank you? Oh, it's so dank and dusty in here! You like those two words? Yeah!...it's both alliterative and art of matter poetic. Oh....why is it 5 degrees cooler in here that it is outside? Let me give you a tip about sleeping in this cold. You'll find that you're a lot warmer if you sleep with your clothes off.....underneath your poncho. Are you kidding me or what? No! Your body generates its own xxx heat. Try it! Ok? ......- Ok! -Good night! . Good night to you, David! Good night, Chad??? And that's the way it is.... Oh, my God! David! Shirley? -Yeah! - How was it last night? Great! It was just like you said. xxxx I used this technique, I used it in Himalayas, you know? By concentrating on this area in my chest..??.and pretty soon I warmed and I wouldn't believe it was xxxx He-he-he! XXXXX Yeah, what? Letting go and xxxx Come on, let's go! Idamira made us some eggs and I got something special that I wanna show you. What? Are we finally gonna see some UFOs?

Out on a Limb was an autobiographical book written by Shirley MacLaine in 1983 and adapted for television in 1986. The ABC Television miniseries starred Shirley MacLaine (playing herself), John Heard as "David Manning", and Charles Dance as "Gerry Stamford ". It details MacLaine's journeys through new-age spirituality. We follow MacLaine from California to various locations including New York and Europe, culminating in a life-changing trip to the Andes mountains in Peru. Central characters include "David" who is, according to MacLaine herself, a composite character, "Gerry Stamford", a married man and member of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, with whom MacLaine was having an affair, and real-life close friend and politician, Bella Abzug (played by Anne Jackson).
