Hey everyone, my name is Taylor McGlone. I'm the Certified Technology Expert here at Burns Hyundai Genesis, and today I wanted to talk to you about Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So obviously you do have to have a compatible phone, so here I'm using my coworker's iPhone, and all I need is a USB that's available with sync. I plug it in down here, and when I plug in the phone, you're going to see on the screen, it's going to read the USB, and then the Apple CarPlay symbol pops up. When I press Apple CarPlay, you look at a screen that looks pretty much like your iPhone. You have messages, you have maps, you have music kind of like from your iTunes. And then if you have something like Spotify, audiobooks, even Pandora, iHeartRadio, you can have all that within the app, so you can stream it through the Apple CarPlay. So over here for the messages, I'm not going to read my coworker's text messages, but it's all done by voice command. If someone sends you a text it will be read out loud to you, and what you can also do is press the voice activation button that you have here on the steering wheel, and when you do, you're going to hear the Siri beep. Now I'm going to go ahead and cancel that out. Another really awesome thing for Apple CarPlay users is the maps. Now over here, when I press the map button, full screen it's going to come up. This is exactly what your iPhone looks like. Now unfortunately for a lot of Apple users, I know you do use Waze, but Waze is not compatible with Apple CarPlay. That is only going to be Android Auto. So hopefully you'll start utilizing your Apple Maps. I actually--I like them. So I'm actually going to exit back out of here, and what I'm going to do is give you an example of how the voice command works. So I'm going to press this button on the steering wheel, Navigation. -Where would you like to go? -Burns Hyundai. -Getting directions to Burns Hyundai. -So here it pops up right here. Now when I'm ready to go, I'm going to go ahead and press Go. -Starting route to Burns Hyundai. -And this is exactly where it's going to go-- -Head east on West Route 70, then the destination is on your right. -So it looks like we're right here, which is pretty awesome how it works. So I just wanted to show you that with the Apple CarPlay with the Apple Maps. Tap the screen, and when you press end, it's going to take you back to the home screen. When you press destinations, all your previous destinations are loaded in there, and then just like your Apple Maps, on your phone, you can look up gas stations, parking, restaurants, coffee shops, and then also grocery places. Next you can access your contacts, so when you press phone over here. you can press Show Contacts, and all your contacts are going to be in your phone. Recents, contacts, and then even if you have any voicemails, and then just like normally, when you have Phone set up on here, you can dial in a number to give a phone call. Now the next thing is going to be the Android Auto. So like I said with the Apple CarPlay, you do need your USB cord, but with Android users, you do need to download the app from your Play Store. The app is called Android Auto. You're going to plug it in the same way, and up on your screen, you're now going to see the Android Auto symbol. So I'm going to go ahead and press that. And this is what your Android screen is going to look like. Previous phone calls, weather, and even a previous destination if you used the map recently. Now one cool thing about the Android Auto is you don't even need to touch this microphone, and you don't need to touch the voice activation on the steering wheel. You can simply say Ok Google, and it's going to react. So like I was saying with the Apple CarPlay, you can tell it to send a text message, you can tell it to look for an address, you can also tell it to play something like Spotify or Pandora. Down here, if you have any music downloaded when you press the microphone, all your dropdowns such as Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio will come up, and also something like Amazon Music and Google Play. Right here are your contacts. You can still access the phone book, previous calls. You can also dial a number and listen to your voicemails, just like the Apple CarPlay. And obviously the coolest part is always going to be the maps. Now like I was saying, unfortunately with Waze it is not compatible with Apple CarPlay. You can use Waze if you have it downloaded, with the Android Auto. But here we're just viewing the Google Maps. Again, when you press the little button up here, you can search recent places, labeled places, saved, and then also categories. Anything under restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, and coffee shops. Now when you scroll down, let me bring my screen back up, you can also view the traffic on here, which I think is pretty cool. Now you can zoom in and see exactly where the traffic is going to be on your trip. Now like I was saying, if you wanted to search for a place, what you can do is you can say, Ok Google, Burns Hyundai. And it's going to search. -Showing results for Burns Hyundai. -We have right up here, so what we're going to do is we're going to press this little arrow. You can also give us a call, and it gives you our hours. -Your destination is on the right. -It looks like we've arrived. And that's how you work the maps on the Android Auto. So now you can press Done, and that's going to take you right back to the Maps screen. Obviously when you come here and you purchase your brand-new Hyundai, I'm going to be the one to sit in the car with you and show you how to work all this and make you a master in using it. At some point, you'll know how to use it better than I can. But other than that, I just wanted to thank you guys so much for watching this video. I hope you did find it informative. Feel free to give us a call at any time. Stop in, even if you have some questions on how to work the tutorial. Come see me, ask for Taylor. And always remember, Burns treats you best.
