OnCommand Unified Manager demo by NetApp TME, Dhiman Chakraborty.
In this session we'll look at how annotations can be used in Unified Manager to tag
storage objects in order to facilitate
impact analysis and content specific reporting.
To understand this better let's take a look
at a scenario where we'll create an annotation
named Application and group objects based on RHEL
with annotation values: Exchange, Databases and Miscellaneous Applications.
Each of the values will be defined by dynamic rules.
To start off, let's navigate to
Administration, Manage Annotation in the dropdown menu.
Click on Add Annotation
and create an annotation named Application
and add a description to it.
Then click Save and Close.
Now that you have created an annotation called Application
we will add values to it.
This value will be Exchange. Once done, click on Add.
Now add the second value
called Database
and once done, click on Add.
We have created two values, Exchange and Database.
It's time to associate rules, click on Annotation Rules
and click on Add
Name the rule. Here we will name it Exchange Rule
the target object is Volume
Apply the annotation to Application, then
the value is Exchange.
You can create different conditions as shown here.
Now we have created a rule for the Exchange value so let's
create a rule for the Database value.
