Some themes give you the ability to add an excerpt
of your post for the front page of your blog
Excerpts are also sometimes used in RSS readers or
elsewhere on the web, and give a quick summary of your post content
To create an excerpt, just tap it into the Excerpt box in the main editor
or copy a chunk of your post across into it
Alternatively, or in addition to using the Excerpt feature...
you can use the "More Tag" in the visual or HTML editor
This will cut off your post wherever you place it
with an invitation for readers to "Read More..."
Clicking on this will bring them to the full post
In the Visual Editor, just click the "Insert More Tag" icon
wherever you'd like to place the break
In the HTML editor, you can either use...
the More QuickTag up here...
or manually enter the More tag, like this
Excerpts are a nice way of keeping your page tidy
and enticing readers to check out your individual posts
