Could you tell us
what streaming is, Kit?
Yes.
So streaming is watching movies
and TV shows over the internet
using services like Netflix, Hulu,
and HBO and Amazon Prime.
And don't for get about PlayStation
Vue where you can watch
NESN and all your
favorite sports games.
With Whip City Fiber, our
connection is way faster
than your normal cable connection.
So you're not going to get the
buffering issues you would get
when multiple users are
online at the same time.
So after you get your Whip City
Fiber installed to your home
all you need is a streaming device
like Roku, chromecast, Fire Stick,
Apple TV, those streaming
devices will connect your TV
to the internet.
Today we're going to
look at the Roku.
It's a simple streaming device that
you plug into a power source
and then you can use an HDMI cable
to plug into the back of your TV.
So first, I'm going to take my Roku
device and plug it into the power
which we have back here.
And then I'm going to hook up the Roku with a simple HDMI cable.
OK, once you get
to your setup screen,
you're going to pick the language.
Once you pick your language, just follow the instructions on the screen.
Once your network is selected,
if you're on the wifi
you're going to have
to enter your password.
Enter activation code using
computer or smart phone.
The Roku is just one device.
Other products are out there like
the Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick.
If you have questions
hooking up your equipment,
feel free to give us a call and
we'll help you out any time.
What is a streaming service?
A streaming service is an account
which lets you access the content
you want to watch.
There's a good chance you
already have at least one account.
Maybe you already
have Netflix, Hulu,
Amazon Prime, or PlayStation Vue.
Each of these is a service which
you'll add to your streaming device
with your user name and password.
When that's entered,
you're ready to watch.
How do I watch local
TV without cable?
A lot of people ask us how they
can cut the cord completely
from their cable company
and still get live TV.
The best way we found is with
an HD antenna which Kit's holding.
They're very easy to hook up
and come with two different
sets of cables.
You have your coax cable and then
you have your amplifier cable
which we've already
hooked up ahead of time.
So once we get to your TV's menu,
and every TV is probably
going to be a little bit different,
on this TV I have an
option for Air and Cable.
I'm going to go with
the Air meaning antenna.
And then after I select this
I'm going to go to the auto scan
so I can actually
scan for the channels.
Once you find your channels,
which could take several minutes,
you'll be able to watch live TV.
I hope this answers some of
your questions about streaming.
If you want to find out more or
you need help, technical support
perhaps, give us a call.
