Chief Judges on the 2011 Employee Viewpoint Survey:

CJ Washington: Hello everyone.
Chief Judge Satterfield and I appreciate your taking the time to join us on-line
for just a few minutes to learn about the latest efforts in our
'Building a Great Place to Work’ Initiative.
I think we all can agree that the most important part of a
great place to work is having bright, capable, and dedicated coworkers,
to share the load. And we’re confident we have a strong
team of judges and staff in that regard.
Now we want to make sure that our work environment is top notch.
CJ Satterfield: In 2009, we did a Human Capital Survey that gave
us important information on what you thought of DC Courts as a workplace.
Your feedback in that survey led to many new initiatives, such as the
new intranet, with daily news updates; the Working on Wellness
programs, including Tai Chi, Yoga and
Zumba and the Work-Life Balance programs, including backup
care for dependent children or elders, the WorkLife4You website, and opportunities
like hand dancing for networking with our colleagues.
CJ Washington: We're about to launch a second court-wide survey,
an Employee Viewpoint Survey, to assess our progress since 2009
and see what remains to be done.
Your feedback is a crucial element in making the Courts a ‘Great Place to Work.’
We really want your feedback, we appreciate it – whether its positive or negative.
We want you to know that it will be totally anonymous – the survey is completed on-line
and will be sent directly to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
OPM will send us only the group responses
so that we can determine where improvements need to be made.
CJ Satterfield: We hope all of you will participate.
It’s important that we get your honest feedback on how we are doing and
how we can improve. We can’t work on problems
that we are not aware of. So please
take a few minutes to complete the survey which will be available
online September 21 through October 12
CJ Washington: That’s only 3 weeks, folks. So please go on-line, take the survey,
and help to make the D.C. Courts an even better place to work.
CJ Satterfield: Chief Judge Washington and I value your views.
So please don't hestiate to let us know what you think.
Thank you again for watching this short video.
Building a great place to work requires input from
everyone. So we want to thank you in advance for taking the
time to complete the survey.
