Remember that, giving charity is not restriction
that's why there's another saying
"you must give where
it hurts to give".
Because when you give and it does not hurt
we know that 'no pain - no gain',
right?
That's called restriction.
So, he's done restriction...
(from the audience)
But giving is restriction.
Not necessarily
If Rockefeller let's say, or those wealthy people, give 5 cents
to a charitable place
even with all of the kavanot, ok?
He's giving tzdaka, right?
(from the audience)
Tzdaka with the hurt, with the pain, then it's a restriction?
Oh yes, yes.
Absolutely.
The giving is the...
I can say
I will give, and I'm going to give
until it hurts
but I didn't give yet
that's the 99% and the 1%.
It's a subterfuge, right?
It might be that
the most generous philanthropist of all time,
which in a pure economic sense
you know, through my life I'll give away over a 100 billion
but someobody who chooses to live in Africa
and work in a hospital,
or give money so they are
giving up a vacation
or something they need
you know, I've not had to sacrifice,
as you said - I have a plane,
when I want to get a hamburger -
I get a hamburger,
and so I've not really sacrificed
my time or my economic well-being
in the same way that
lots of unnamed amazing people do
so they are the worlds best philanthropists.
