for public administration
and throughout the nation.

how Surface Hub
can be a valid tool
in healthcare not only
at a time of emergency
like the one we are in,
but also under normal
operating conditions. Thank you.
Surface Hub 2 uses
a 50-inch screen,
has a 3:2 video ratio
recommended for productivity,
offers 4K resolution
and has an antiglare treatment
that lets the user enjoy
the content from any angle,
adjusting the
brightness dynamically
to guarantee a top level
user experience.
The distance between glass
and digitizer is minimized:
this bestows
magnificent reactivity to touch
and eliminates the parallax
effect while writing.
Thanks to Surface Active Pen,
connected by Bluetooth
and positionable
in many points of the frame,
the writing and drawing experience
is smoother than ever.
A really natural feel.
The device’s eye
is a magnificent 4K camera
you can put on the frame
by USB-C door.
The visual field has a 90° angle,
without distortion
and the images are optimized
entirely automatically.
Hub has Doppler sensors
that let you detect a presence
and guarantee reactivity to use.
The audio section
is definitely a strong point:
front 3-way full-range stereo
speakers emit a pure sound
and with Bass module
you have the right depth.
Hub listens with an array
of 8-element full-band microphones
that create an acquisition area
meant to enhance the user’s voice
eliminating background noise
through specific algorithms.
On the edge of the frame
there are 4 USB-C ports
that let you use
various accessories,
but naturally Hub
has many other ports
that enable usages
with peripheral extensions,
like for example the output to a
projector and external audio media,
or to connect
your PC and much more.
The battery made
by Schneider Electric
(and for this reason
sold separately)
with the carriage
created by Steelcase
let you use the device
absolutely dynamically
in rooms, unleashing
all of Surface Hub’s potential
and optimally
supporting all users.
Its real strength
comes from an operating system
that lets each user log on
with his or her credentials
and change Hub
into their device.
In this case, sign-in is mediated
by the app Microsoft Authenticator.
This simplifies sign-in
and avoids typing the password
guaranteeing maximum security.
Logging in with
Logic Single Sign-on,
you can log into all
the scheduled meetings
and the files uploaded on OneDrive
are launched with one touch.
The Office applications
open in the blink of an eye
already being signed in
and ready to go.
By using the multitasking
ability of Hub,
you have the option
to split the screen
with many applications
simultaneously,
taking advantage of sign-in
before browser navigation, too.
Among the basic tools
in the start menu
we have Microsoft Whiteboard.
In this case, too,
the user is supported
by the frictionless sign-in logic,
that doesn’t disrupt
the workflow,
allowing the user to express himself
optimally without distraction.
When the activity is done, the user
just clicks the End Session button.
This provides a clean slate
and prepares Hub
for the next user’s arrival
always guaranteeing
top performance.
Hub makes for a great video
collaboration experience.
With your display name,
you can be asked to meetings
as if asked by a colleague
or a meeting room
exploiting the Client Team
on PC or smartphone
or as an alternative, inviting
with the Outlook calendar
via server Exchange.
Once the meeting starts,
we have the digital canvas
of the full-screen whiteboard
and visibility of participants
on the sidebar.
Depending on the case, we can
bring the attendees to full-screen
or share a whiteboard
so that everyone can give
input at the same time.
Hub packaging is designed
to aid in the installation steps
to facilitate
the operation fully.
The standard package
includes a Surface Active Pen
and a Camera Hub 4K,
besides
the power plug, of course.
The Mobile Roam
produced by Steelcase
is a highly recommended
solution
and it’s super easy to assemble:
two people can easily
install it in a few minutes
and without any effort.
Once assembled, it houses
Hub with maximum stability
thanks to the practical
joining supports.
The battery is also a
recommended accessory,
since, besides allowing
the device to operate
where there aren’t any outlets,
it protects the motherboard
from any voltage spikes
from the electrical system,
making it a real UPS.
Assembling it is simple and intuitive.
Lastly, you don’t have
to worry about cables,
since Hub is designed
to hide them
to have a sleek design all around.
Let’s quickly look at
some examples of app use:
sharing information
with colleagues
exploiting the DICOM viewers,
a super presentation
involving the public
and lastly, a training session
for medical students.
Let’s start right away
signing in to the meeting,
where coworkers
are already waiting for me.
I can do it with my account
or with the account of the device
based on the circumstances.
The Whiteboard
opens automatically,
with sign-in to my
area already done.
It’s all extremely smooth.
Now I browse the
applications menu,
because I want to
talk with coworkers
about a patient’s knee.
I can open the files from the cloud
or simply from a USB pen drive.
I select the series of images
browsing the different folders
and we see an RM
with axial slices of the knee.
But as you can see,
this application
has few functions
so I prefer to use
the one on my PC
because I want
to take measurements.
On Hub I press Menu
and then the Connect button,
to connect in Miracast
with this, which is my PC.
From my PC, I just
simultaneously press the buttons
Windows + K
to make Hub appear
in the devices that
allow connection.
Surface Hub has become
a peripheral of my PC.
I have total control
and a fantastic user experience
with 4K display, touch and pen
to take measurements
of the femoral condyles.
Even in this case, I am using
PowerPoint with Surface Hub.
Today I have a mixed audience,
but it won’t be hard to communicate
and show the presentation
thanks to the Hub screen
and Microsoft Translator.
Just pick
your language
and the one you want
automatic translation in.
Launching the presentation,
the information slide appears
which lets the audience
get on their own phone
real-time translation
in their own language.
In PowerPoint, for example,
look how useful a 3:2 screen is.
It allows me to convey my
message to foreigners
in English at the top,
while at the bottom
hearing impaired Italians
can understand
everything I’m saying,
and all this, without
covering up the slide content.
And now let’s go on
to the training session,
using a PDF file that
looks at the respiratory system.
In this case, too, I pair an app
downloaded from the Store
that helps understand
what I’m explaining,
helping me with radiological
images and different information.
As you can see,
we're still totally multitasking,
dividing the screen
into 3 parts
in videoconference,
with an application and PDF reader
used at the same time.
We launch the Edge browser
and we navigate searching info
using the Virtual Keyboard
or a separate mouse
and keyboard instead.
The rule for smart sign-in
is also valid here.
Navigation
is extremely smooth
and we can take information
and images directly.
In this anatomy lesson
done by videoconference
via Teams with students
in my course,
I explain at a high level
blood circulation
in the cardiac chambers.
I use the Whiteboard to explain
the main anatomical structures,
the valves and nerve fibers
that make pulsation possible, etc.
I use colors that,
unlike chalk,
allow me to be very clear
about arterial and venous
blood circulation.
I don’t leave any doubts
and above all I can make
the participants interact.
I finish using one of the
many digital whiteboard functions.
We are at the end of the lesson
and I want to close with
a small interactive test.
I convert the image
I downloaded from the Internet
into modifiable ink
with the Magic Wand,
I erase anatomical names
of some heart parts
and I ask the students
to answer the questions
completing the drawing remotely.
