20170101 Waiting

Sometimes the rider will ask you to wait
for more than five minutes,
while they finish getting ready.
I would ask my rider, "Is it okay, if I hit Begin trip
while I wait for you?"
Uber fares are calculated using both distance and time.
So, once I start the trip,
the rider is getting charged
even if I'm not going anywhere.
If you're waiting for the rider and they never show up,
you can cancel the trip
by using the option 'Rider no-show.'
You must try to contact your rider
by texting or calling, before you use 'Rider no-show'
and you must wait and least five minutes
after arriving at the pick-up location
for this to be a valid choice.
If your city offers Uber pool
and you're on Uber pool trip, you'll want to wait
two minutes before canceling on a no-show rider.
After you've accepted the trip request,
you can look up the rider's information
by hitting the Menu button;
this includes the option to contact them.
You can text or call the rider directly from the app.
It's better to text your rider,
if you need to contact them
because then the information is written down.
And texting is less intrusive than calling.
But its not always safe or legal to text.
Please be safe when contacting your rider.
