Hey Lindiwe, here's your coat. Auntie, did you get the sugar? You know, you're really naughty... Be fast, Edith. -Hey, Lindiwe! -Where's that thing? Check in that Bible. Lindiwe, come over here. -Why did Edith wake up early? -Who? Did Edith wake up early to study? Yes... Yes, she did. ...seven, eight... Four, five, seven... Should the petticoat show like that? Is it longer? I forgot how to put it on, so it's just slipping off. Have you forgotten how to dress? Yeah, it keeps slipping down. Go get sugar from the house. Go inside and dress properly. Such rugged dress. What have you done? Aren't they going to fall off at school? Go take off your jacket, and also that dress. Come on... Should we go get the sugar? -Memory! -Yeah! Your bag's fallen! So what are you going to do? To change my dress. That bag... That bag... -Hey Edith, hurry up! -Okay. -Lusungu is playing in the dust with your friends! -Amazing! Get outta here! Go and eat. Are these the buttons for the jacket? Don't put on that jacket; it'll hide your pretty uniform. Edith! Save the cassava in the kitchen. How about my tea? First you need go get the kettle from the kitchen and save it. -Pass the soap. -Aggie, get out of there! Sissy, the spoon please. Lindiwe, give your friend the spoon. Eat with your hands! Don't cough on my side! -Kick her? -I'll kick her. -Kick her? Who put this here? You know... Tea? Give it to you? Dad! Unabi, stay there. Unabi! Pawo, come on, let's see you. Come, we wanna see you. Do it like this. He was just doing it that way. Oge! Get going. -I'm done. -What? It's the way you were doing it! I thought you poured it out this way? I thought you said it your way? Hey! -Yours? -Hey, you aren't Lindiwe. Drop it in there! -Drop it there. -Dad. -He thinks it's his. Is it yours? I'm gonna kick him. Hey, is that the way to eat? Ok, you go eat. He wants tea. Oggie, bring it. Aunt, pass that to me. I always give it to you like that. Have you saved some tea for others? Start drinking your tea. Hurry up, please. By the way, where did you put the 40 kwacha (currency)? -Where did you put the 40 kwacha? -In that bag? For the in-law to party with? I'll give it to you. I'll be right back.

Edith's household is bustling, as the kids prepare to leave for school. Cecilia is disappointed with Edith's petticoat, and demands returns to her room to "dress properly". The children congregate outside the kitchen for tea and cassava. Silaju attempts to steal something from Linndiwe, but Edith and Memory warn him not to. Chickens run here and there; a radio plays in the background.
