Hi, my name is Polina I am from Saint Petersburg. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It happened March 10, 1996 We could hardly wait for baptism. One frosty, January day, missionaries knocked on our door late at night. and told of the Book of Mormon. We joyfully accepted their message. We prayed about this, and felt that it was true. We were baptized in a few weeks. The most important thing, of course, for me was the Book of Mormon. I always felt that the Book of Mormon was true. And I also felt an answer to my prayer when I asked if this church is true. Because two years before the missionaries came to us our entire family was baptized in the Russian Orthodox Church. Therefore, the question stood before us, "Why do we need to be baptized again"? We were already baptized. But when the missionaries explained that there are a lot of churches and that all teach and baptize differently and that we need to prayer so that we personally find truth. After we did this I knew that I needed to be baptized in the true church. I think that they must read it and pray about it. Every person finds something in it for themselves. What might be important to me might not be important to another. That's why we need to read and pray. I know that this book is true. I love it and read it every day. My life is totally different because I read this book. I don't know how many differences. I know that the Book of Mormon supplements the Bible. The Book of Mormon explains many moments that are not completely understood in the Bible. Everybody has the Bible. But, there are many, different churches. And as it is explained in the holy scriptures, the Book of Mormon is not so much distinct from the Bible as it is a supplement to the Bible. The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ. When I was on my mission, the mission president's wife told us to try reading the Book of Mormom and with a yellow marking underline each reminder of Jesus Christ. You will see after to read it that you will have yellow on every page. This book truly testifies of Jesus Christ. Before I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I knew who Jesus Christ wass. But I never had personal feelings I never had personal prayer. Now I know what he means to me personally. and who Heavenly Father is and how They help me through the Holy Ghost. That is to say the Church helped me find close relationships. More open, more connected, more sincere relationships with God and Jesus Christ. The temple is the house of God on the Earth. When we go there or even when we go near the temple you can feel that something strong and different is there. This is the Holy Ghost.
