the role of increasingly anonymous and technological contexts
for influencing group membership and contributions,
and how external forces
such as time, power, and status affect group formation in the first place.
Feminist scholars interested in groups,
then have challenged simplistic sex divisions
and assumptions that informed the earliest group work.
They have affirmed approaches
that take into account
societal forces that affect
group formation, processing and norms,
ultimately seeking ways to diminish
the unequal social structures
that continue to promote
