♪ ...Santa, I wish with all my mind ♪ (Kam Carman) Wilson Sisters, from out of the break. Every kid just cannot wait for their chance to visit with Santa, and special needs children - no exception. In Kam's Corner this morning, we found a man who makes sure every child get's their Christmas wishes heard. (Scott Powers) I believe that kids should be able to tell Santa what they want for Christmas... ...hear what they have to say. What do you want for Christmas? (Kam) It's something many of us take for granted, being able to sit on jolly old Saint Nick's lap at Christmas, to recite our holiday list. But for some kids, it can be frustrating. That's why Santa's special helper, Scott Powers, who is deaf, is changing that. (Scott) I remember back then when I was young, I couldn't communicate with Santa, and I was crying, and - Santa didn't understand me. (Kam) But this signing Santa is reaching out to deaf children, by helping them convey their Christmas wishes. This event at Shield's Pizza in Southfield, is one of three Scott is holding this season, and this occasion isn't the only gift in the big guy's bag. Not only is this Santa's helper doing great things within the Deaf community, he's also helping out other causes throughout the the Metro Detroit area. During Scott's appearances, part of the proceeds of the food sales and pictures taken with Santa will benefit Paws with a Cause and organization that provides assistance dogs to persons with disabilities. So it's a win-win situation for everyone, and Scott, aka Santa, gets a big kick out of it. (Scott) I like to be able to do this. I've been doing it every year. I love doing it.
