"Red Vida" (Life Net) unites all movements
That agrees with the concept
of water as a human right,
a common resource for humanity.
"Red Vida" was founded in 2003
in the city of El Salvador in Central America.
It unites, in the name of water being a right,
in the "Asemblea Pronuncial" an assembly for the right of water,
environmental organizations,
also organizations of users such as a SEC in El Salvador,
public water enterprises such as ASEMA in Brazil,
unions of the service sector such as FENTAP from Peru,
or FOSE from Uruguay,
also organizations that defend the users
and civil rights such as Public Citizen in the U.S.
In summary, it is a conglomeration,
of associations and organizations
that on a international level, believe
that this is the fight of the 21st century.
Starting with this formation in 2003,
"Red Vida" has tried to modernize the fights and defenses,
from this point of view, from Canada to Argentina.
A few years ago in Michigan, USA,
a very important and interesting movement was organized
to avoid that Nestlé continued
drilling in the nearby zone of the Great Lakes
with the objective of the so called water privatization politic,
of the bottled water.
In this we have to say that, unfortunately,
and without realizing it,
in the world, in the last 20 years,
we consumed 2 billion liters of bottled water.
Today, we consume 200 billion liters of bottle water.
