How to make cheese 'n ham spirals

[howdini - get yourself a guru] Here's a great little appetizer that you could make ahead of time, and it's simple to make using frozen puff pastry. [Cheese 'n Ham Spirals] Start with a sheet of frozen puff pastry and roll it out to about 14x10 inches. [Michele McAdoo for the Kraft Kitchens] Roll it a bit more. Make sure your board is nicely floured when you're working with the puff pastry. Next we're going to cut it in half lengthwise just using a paring knife. [knife scraping] And then I've mixed ahead one egg with a tablespoon of water, and I'm going to brush both sides of the puff pastry with this mixture. [brushing sound] Perfect. Now I'll sprinkle three tablespoons of Kraft Parmesan Cheese that I've mixed with a quarter teaspoon of cayenne pepper. So just mix that all over. Then I'm going to top this with slices of ham. When you're placing the ham on, just kind of overlap them a little bit over the top of one another. Now fold over the other half, placing the egg side down. And then just using the rolling pin, roll the two pieces together to seal them. And then I'm going to brush this with the egg mixture. [brushing sound] Great. Now we're going to roll it up just like a jelly roll. So starting on the edge, using the tips of your fingers, start to roll up. There you go. It's that simple. I've cut the log into 24 slices, and they're cut side down on a parchment paper covered baking sheet. Now I'm going to brush them with the remaining egg mixture. Just a quick, light brushing. Good. Now I'm going to sprinkle them with one tablespoon of the Parmesan Cheese. [sprinkling sound] And put these in a 400 degree oven for about 12 to 14 minutes. And they're done. You can have them warm or wait until they're room temperature. They taste great either way. [chimes jingling] []
