Workstyle Freestyle 040 - 'Physical Disability'

Hello Hoxbies!
Welcome to Workstyle Freestyle, with me, Alex Hirst.
And with me, Lizzie Penny.
So today we are talking about one of our very
important causes.
It is physical disability, as you can see on the board.
So we're just going to start by,
as usual, sharing some appalling statistics with you.
Alex, do you want to kick us off?
- Yea I can kick us off.
So, The Independent recently reported that
people with physical disability have to
apply for 60% more jobs,
than those without any kind of impairment.
So frustrating. So frustrating.
And Scope, which is the UK-based charity which focuses on
equality for disabled people,
they reported that nearly half
of disabled people, so 48%,
have worried about sharing information about their
impairment, or condition with an employer.
So, it's not just about finding it hard to find jobs,
it's also about it causing anxiety and
problems about sharing those disabilities too.
Absolutely. And I don't know about you but that does not
sound like the future of work to me.
It doesn't sound like the future that I want to work in.
And, you know, hopefully, that's where the Hoxby model and
our kind-of way of working can be more inclusive, and
reduce those numbers down hopefully quite significantly,
which is something that we are looking to track over time.
Hopefully, we see the effect of what we're building.
At Hoxby you can work where and when you choose,
it's up to you what your workstyle is.
No one even needs to know if you have a disability.
So it's completely up to you and you are judged on your output.
So, we use the hashtag #WorkWithoutBias,
please hashtag #WorkWithoutBias
and share your story and share with people who you think
might be interested in what we campaign for at Hoxby.
Right, thanks very much. We've been Workstyle Freestyle,
we'll see you next time.
- See you next time.
Bye bye.
