RAVES - Giant Scorpions
Torah Kachur: What is the biggest bug you could possibly imagine?
The Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches of Fear Factor?
How about a seven foot, yes, seven foot long sea scorpion?
That's about the size of a compact car.
Let me introduce you: hibbertopterus, pitiful human.
Pitiful human, hibbertopterus.
Hibbertopterus is an ancient sea scorpion of incredible dimensions.
It was the largest arthropod to ever walk planet Earth.
But how in the devil did they get so big?
Many ideas are out there, including that when these beasts lived,
about 250 million years ago, there was less gravity.
Less gravity meant less constraints on body size.
Another, is that probably because these guys were cold-blooded,
they weren't limited by heat exchange with the environment.
Regardless of why they're so big, I'm scared of cockroaches.
Just imagine a seven foot bug walking across your carpet.
I just wonder if Raid would work...
