>> We're going to be tasting these things
in front of you, on your plate.
We're going to try and find the difference
between store-bought and farm fresh.
>> Can you tell the difference between
store-bought and farm fresh produce?
Watch as these youth are taken through
a simple taste test activity to see
if they can predict which is which.
>> Farm fresh vegetables
can be determined by taste,
texture, and smell of a vegetable.
>> Splendid, very good job,
and that's what we're going to do.
Look on your paper,
aroma, texture, flavor,
see all those different columns we have:
Vegetable 1, Vegetable 2, Vegetable 3,
Vegetable 4, Vegetable 5, and Vegetable 6?
>> Hm-mm.
>> And below there,
it gives you different things to help you
determine what it tastes like,
what it seems like to you.
Clean, fresh, floral, fruity.
>> I don't really like
tomatoes or cucumber.
>> Well, we're not going to ask you
to eat a whole lot of it,
just get a little taste.
Is that all right?
Okay, smell it.
Can you smell the cucumber?
>> Smell your cucumber.
>> Okay? Pick it up and feel it.
Does it feel mushy?
Just write down how it feels.
>> It feels like smooth.
>> Soft.
>> Okay, it's soft.
At the very bottom,
I would like you to put either a SB
for store-bought or FF for farm fresh.
And you give a prediction.
You let me know what do you think.
