First job?
First job? Mowing lawns.
I think that was my first job.
Do you remember
what you charged?
$15 a lawn. But I did a good job.
I trimmed and I weeded.
I over delivered.
When you're back in town,
aside from visiting family,
what's the spot you have to
get to while you're here?
Oh gosh. Taco Via's up there.
Chartroose Caboose.
Winstead's. And then I go down my
barbeque list, which is extensive.
You hit them all?
I hit 'em all. All the barbecue.
So you get your sodium level
checked weeks and weeks later.
I'm swollen. It's not a good look.
What is the lesson you learned
as a kid about money?
About being responsible? Whatever,
that you've carried into adulthood?
My dad and my grandfather were
pretty good about two things:
Avoid debt.
Fight debt as much as you can.
Fight it, not find it. Fight it.
And the time value of money.
Start early. Start often.
And keep it going.
And those two things
have resonated with me.
I've tried to do those two things.
Good advice.
So the 10-year-old version of you
would have been spending
money on what?
Slushies. Suicide slushies. And taffy.
And some sort of chocolate bar.
You weren't a baseball card or football card collector?
No, I never really got into the cards.
I like Mad magazine.
Maybe one of those.
