The oasis at UIC in Lecture Center A is easily one of my favorite oases on campus.
That's because it's both accessible and private.
And since it's close to the quad there's always something going on.
I am very thankful to Dorothy for contributing this oasis to UIC.
As you walk into the oasis you are greeted with a neat,
climate controlled, comfortable environment.
And the strategic spacing of all the furniture makes all the couches
and surfaces very accessible and convenient.
All the furniture is very comfortable
and I really appreciate UIC for maintaining it.
The lighting in this oasis is just fantastic!
The entire arch of the room is brightly lit with fluorescent lights
and attractive little lamps hanging from the ceiling.
UIC's finest artists have contributed their works here
and they really brighten up the space.
Massive panels of glass surround the oasis bringing in natural light
and keeping students connected to the great outdoors.
The oasis initiative by the Office of Campus Learning Environments at UIC
is by far the most impressive learning environment initiative
that I have experienced in my academic career.
The purpose of providing students with a place to study, relax or hang out with friends
is not only a critical component of the overall college experience
but it has been carried out beautifully by the OCLE.
I, and I'm pretty sure many other students,
look forward to what the OCLE has to offer us in the future.
