[RealPad] [Real Possibilities AARP] [How Do I Use the Internet] >> In this lesson, you will learn to browse the Internet using an AARP RealPad Android tablet. If you haven't connected the RealPad to the Internet, we recommend watching the Connecting My Wifi video. Tap the RealPad toolbar icon on the left side of the navigation bar to open the RealPad toolbar. Tap Web. Your web browser should open to Google. You can use other search engines, like Yahoo, for example. This white bar at the top of the screen is where you enter a web address or search term. First, let's learn about web addresses. By entering a web address, you will go directly to a website. It's easy to identify a web address because they usually begin with a www or http and typically end with a .com, .org, .gov, .net, or .edu. Let's look at how to go to a website using a web address. First you tap the white bar at the top of the screen. When you tap the bar, the keyboard will appear. Next, you enter a web address, such as on the keyboard. After entering a web address, tap Go on the keyboard. When on a website, swipe up and down to browse. A link is something you touch on a webpage that takes you to another webpage. Links that are words are often blue. Photos can also link to other webpages. To open a link, tap it. Tap the back arrow in the top left to go back to the previous page. Now that we've looked at how to go to a website using a web address, let's learn about searching the Internet. The Internet is a big place, and it can be hard to navigate. When you want to find something online, but you don't know the web address, you do a web search. Searching the Internet is kind of like asking the Internet a question. Let's look at how to search the Internet. First, tap the bar at the top of the screen. Next, enter a search term. Search terms sound similar to natural language. For example, if you live in New York and want to know the weather forecast you enter weather in New York City. After entering a search term, tap Go on the keyboard. Your search results will appear. Search results are a list of links to websites related to your search term. Tap a link to visit that website. Try searching the web to find the answer next time you have a question about technology or about anything for that matter. Enjoy browsing the Internet. [RealPad] [Real Possibilities AARP]
