Poética de la brevedad en Borges

Hello, I am Jose Alvarez
and today I want to present you a class summary
that I have developed on an author
who is considered one of the best writers
of all times
although he did not write copious novels,
nor endless essays,
nor extensive poems.
In truth his works do not exceed ten pages.
Actually, I am referring to Jorge Luis Borges.
His conciseness piqued my curiosity
and that curiosity led me to produce a work
on this Argentinan author
to unravel his labyrinth
and attempt to demonstrate that his spontaneous use of brevity
marks a poetic vision
with great implications
because it is founded on the synopsis of philosophical,
literary and cultural currents
that Borges interprets,
discusses, refutes and reinvents
in a strikingly novel way.
Throughout the classes I make a methodological review
of countless studies on his work
and examine in great detail his writings
collected in five volumes
which were edited by Emecé en 2002.
His pantheistic vision,
human beings' moments of epiphany,
his love hate relationship with language
and especially his permanent cultivation of a precise style,
give rise to a style where silence
resounds in an explosion
that reveals the hidden aspects
by a keen mastery of brevity.
