Let's take a look how a color laser beam printer works
First, a negative electric charge is applied uniformly across the surface of the photo sensitive drum
The photo sensitive drum is exposed to laser beams emitted from the laser transmitter unit
which conveys image data sent from a PC
The areas of the photo sensitive drum on
which laser beams are emitted
discharge negative electricity
negatively charged toner
fixes only to those areas of the photo sensitive drum
that were exposed to the laser beams
after a paper is fixed to the photo sensitive drum
a positive charge is applied to attract toner
this process is conducted 4 times
with separate scanners and toner cartridges
for each of the 4 colors
creating the color image on the paper
finally heat and pressure are applied
to formally fix the toner image on the paper
prior to the final output
