Cinco de mayo is a Mexican holiday that is celebrated in America and Mexico. Cinco de Mayo got it's roots in America during the civil war and from Mexican immigrants. Cinco de Mayo is not the celebration of the Mexican independence, but instead the celebration at Puebla, a small town in Mexico where a small band of of Mexican troops defeated a large French army. During the holiday many Mexican-Americans and Mexicans celebrate the victory by eating Mexican foods like tacos, nachos, black beans, chicken tostadas, churros, and flan. To make tacos cook meat in a skillet over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, then drain, Step two: Stir in beef sauce and heat to boiling, stir occasionally. Reduce heat to medium. Then cook for five minutes stirring occasionally. Pour meat mixture into a large bowl. Step 3: heat tacos a directed on package. Serve with tortillas, for the tacos meat mixture, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. It is also celebrated by listening to mariachi music, going to festivals, hitting piƱatas, and drinking margaritas. Whitin Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is primarily observed in the state of Puebla, where Mexico's unlikely triumph occurred, although in other parts of the country celebrations also take place. Traditions include military parades, reenactments of the battle of Puebla and other festive events. For many Mexicans, however, May 5 is a day like any other. It is not a federal holiday, so offices, banks and stores remain open. There is a major festival here in Atlanta on Cinco de mayo, the festival lasts all day and has music and food.
