Are you Uber? [Will:] I absolutely am. What is the name of the driver you're waiting for? Will. [Will:] That's me! Come on in and sit down. How are you today? >> Great! [Will:] A safe pick-up is about the location of both your vehicle and the rider. It's important to find a safe place to pick up your rider. However, you may need to compromise depending on traffic in your area. It may be necessary to contact your rider and negotiate a safer pick-up location like a nearby driveway or just around the corner for the given address. Remember to stay calm and think on your feet when offering solutions. When you work with your rider, you could still offer a positive experience even with a compromise. When you're picking up your rider, you need to make sure you have the correct rider. Most of the time riders, will ask for you by name or even say who they are so you don't have to worry about it. However, if someone comes up to your car and says, "Hey, are you Uber?" I want you to say, "I absolutely am. What is the driver, you're waiting for?" The rider has your face and your name on their phone in addition to your car's model and license plate so they can confirm that you're the right driver for them. Sometimes they might say, "You know, I'm not sure; my wife ordered the trip." Then you could say, "That's all right. What's your wife's name?" However, if you tell someone what your rider's name is, "Are you my rider John?" That person may say yes, even if they aren't, and the real rider John is very unhappy. To avoid this, please always ask the rider to introduce themselves or for the name of the driver they're waiting for.
