I've learned that not everything is as it seems on the outside. We all have a story. Sometimes the silent quiet ones are bigger than the big loud ones. When I first started working here, everybody was hearing. I was the only deaf person. And it was awkward, just a little bit awkward. But I had to show that I was brave. My name is Steve Roddick. My name is Scott Upton. I work here as a material handler. I work in the A-frame. I use this technology RF. When things are empty, I refill those orders. That's my job. I can feel it right now as we're standing here, this conveyor belt behind me. When the hearing people would tell me that it's really loud, I'm happy that I don't have to hear any of it. Steve is a very gregarious, enthusiastic— for lack of better words— loud personality. Scott will carry around a little notepad in case he needs to elaborate a little more. A very open and honest individual

who really cares about people that he works with. What impressed me is some of my supervisors knew how to finger spell. That was a surprise. I took the sign language class with a few of my coworkers to be able to better communicate with Steven and Scott. It's great to be able to come in and say good morning or goof afternoon. It makes it easier to communicate with the supervisors, to get to know each other. It enriches the communication, and there are no misunderstandings. And that's what I like. That really touched my heart. Steve has taken it upon himself to on-board new people. He embraces newcomers. He wants to make sure that they're part of the team and feel like they're part of the team and they understand what it means to work for McKesson. Steve, he trained me. He taught me the procedures and we went through those together. And I felt like I was progressing. If I made mistakes, I would ask Steve questions. And now I feel confident. And now when there are new workers here, I help them and teach them. I feel everyone can be a leader in their own way. A big thing is leading by example. You don't need to have a title to be a leader. We all bring our own challenges; we all bring our own personalities and our own nuances that can really bring out the best in a team. And when you have diversity and you have people from different backgrounds, it brings a whole new light. This is a job I really want for my life. This is a job I love. I love my work. It feels like a family. Steve and Scott are a big part of who we are and have really influenced the culture that we have here on the floor and on their shift. Leadership is at all levels. Leadership, I think, comes from the ground up. It's about getting the most out of each of us, inspiring us to be who we are and what our potential is.
