What is up you guys, this is SpaceKryptonite here to bring you the season finale on the History of the Megabots
where we will dive into the final destination and the events that led to doomsday
Make sure to watch part 1 to catch up on the juicy parts of the megabots since today,
we will be going over the fall of the megabots
As a disclaimer, you have permission to cry in the comments since we will be diving into some sad stuff
Also, I am not responsible if hashtag RIPMegabots goes viral on twitter and then Freejam comes yelling at me
Anyways, let’s get down with the sickness and start from the plans that was not implemented
Megabots were planned to be added in battle arena. Don’t believe me?
Ric Art Jammer posted an image on May 14, 2015
This image was a teaser that Megabots were going to be able to play in battle arena
Looking to the left side of the image, you can see that the fusion towers are taller and seems to have 2 towers meshed into 1
Also the middle glowing crater was hinting the arrival of Alien mask
(laughing) Ok, I was just kidding on that one
It could have serve the purpose of adding another objective to the game mode
Ric also mentioned that the estimated time of arrival for this teaser would be around 5 weeks from the time posted
When 5 weeks came around, there was no mention or teasers leading to the conclusion that this project was cancelled
This is not to say they should’ve finished because chances are Freejam has already tested the game mode
but didn’t meet the standards that they were hoping for
The plans for Megabots were stumbling upon problems on November 2, 2015
Mark began his post on Realizing the Vision which declared the future of Robocraft
In his 7 chapters, megabots were only mentioned on 1 chapter which was the last chapter
Mark says, “Increased max CPU to all Player levels. Mega’s also finally getting a CPU boost.”
In another line, he states, “And more things for Megabots, we really want to improve the experience for those playing Megabots”
Judging by the amount of information put into these posts, megabots were still in a brainstorm phase
There was a lot of detail put into realizing the vision for other tier bots, but not for megabots
There was no mention of more mega parts or modes for megabots
but mainly stating broadly that the focus was to improve the experience for those playing Megabots
On December 17, 2015, the Full Spectrum Combat update was release
This update removed TX-1 cubes and the megaseat was transformed into the Mega Module
This was the process of tier flattening and the final destination for megabots was getting closer
It was at this update where megabots would be pushed to the side as the attention focused primarily on weapons that would purge the skies
With the new year, megabots didn’t have any new features or updates
The franchise of megabots was lifted high for their ability to create awesome bots
but things started to slow down as updates didn’t provide anything to megabots
There was the Aeroflak update, Missile Launcher update, Maximum loadout update, and lastly, the proto seeker update with all having no mentions of megabots
With all new weapons coming in, these weapons were not able to be used by Megabots
The inevitable was coming closer as players started to believe that Freejam just forgot about megabots
And through sudden events, on March 30, 2016
It was publicly declared that Freejam would be removing megabots in the next update
The patch notes were released on April 1, but this, my friends, was no april fools joke
As the truth was set, Megabot builders gathered as they shared their favorite megabots for the last time
Drognin hosted the final megabot stream on twitch, but at last
the end has arrived
April 4, 2016, the CPU update was released
In stated Megabots are being removed from Robocraft
Mega modules were transformed into the power module
and for 1 week, Freejam allowed 100% sellback value on items
The max CPU cap was increased to 1750 and all mega parts were adjusted to match the tier flattening process
This, my friends, was the fall of the megabots where all megabots would remain in the garage bay
Gathering dust
Sleeping in hopes of a comeback
So that pretty much wraps it up for this video. Big thanks to Jac733, Herper, and adixox12 for helping me with getting some content for this video
