I came to San Francisco from Hong Kong in 1974.
Communication is the key to success
which I had trouble with at the very beginning on my first step into this country.
I want to work for a bank as a data entry clerk.
I went up to the HR department, all I ask,
"Hi, I would like to have a job application form"
and the lady told me "Your English is very poor,
you should find yourself a job in Chinatown."
I was very disappointed.
I just thought, that person just don't know me and don't give me opportunity.
I thought if I was stick with a job in Chinatown, I would never learn English.
I felt like, I can do better than that.
So I was introduced to Foremost-McKesson for an internship program.
I have been working for McKesson almost 44 years.
Confidence is important to me, I have to work hard for it,
it doesn't come natural to me.
Always enjoy learning
whether it's learning English,
whether it's learning programming,
follow your passion.
The starting point is the hardest point.
Always go for it and dream about it,
taking action on it, getting help from other people.
After 44 years, I felt like my dream came true.
