Hello, how are you? My name is Juan Carlos Juan González
I am more well known in the IES center as Pancho
I am a professor of Geography and History, in the Social Sciences department.
I'm here to give you advice, through this book
that you see here
entitled, "What I mean when I say 'Run!'"
It is by the Japanese author Haruki Murakami
a writer that
used to own a Jazz pub
which was one of his passions.
Why this book interested me, overall,
and why I'm going to recommend it to you is because of what it says about sporting practice
I recommend it basically for three reasons:
The first is for the healthy effects that practicing sport involves.
The second, because we say that sport encourages sacrifice
and putting effort into attaining a goal.
The third reason, is because it discusses
following a trajectory of overcoming obstacles.
This man runs marathons
and has even managed to do ultra-marathons of 100 km (62 miles)
which is a way for you to see that a normal person
can, if he puts his mind to it, with effort and sacrifice,
achieve goals that we didn't even think
were within our reach,
within our grasp.
That is all. Until next time!
