[electronic thumping] [Social Media Week] [Toby Daniels - Founder & Executive Director, Social Media Week] Good morning from advertising agency JWT's world headquarters here in New York City. On February 7, 2011, we'll be hosting our fourth Social Media Week Conference. And today I'd like to share a few announcements with you and also talk to you a little bit about how you can get involved. Social Media Week first started here in New York City in 2009, and since then, we've hosted more than 500 events in 11 cities reaching more than 20,000 attendees worldwide. In February, the conference will take place simultaneously in London, Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, Istanbul, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Sao Paulo and will focus on how societies, cultures and economies around the world are becoming more integrated and more empowered through a global network of communication. Social Media Week is unique in many ways. It's multi-city, it's simultaneous and it's also distributed, meaning that events take place throughout each participating city. Most importantly, Social Media Week is free to attend and open and inclusive to anyone in any industry. Hosting hundreds of free events in nine cities simultaneously would be impossible without the incredible support from our brand partners, including JWT, who in 2011 will become one of our global sponsors. We're excited to announce that in 2011 we will be partnering with Nokia, who will become our global headline sponsor. As part of this partnership, we will be launching a really exciting initiative that will connect Social Media Week attendees around the world through real-time conversation and also through a location check-in experience. To find out more about our brand partnerships with Nokia and other brands, please go to the website and go to the sponsor section. In addition to our global sponsors, Social Media Week would also not be possible without our local city partners, the hundreds of advisory board members and our event partners who help us curate and host all of the content and programming. In the past, we've worked with major institutions like the Financial Times, MoMA, WIRED and also public sector organizations like the US State Department, the city of Los Angeles and also the municipality of Milan. We also work with small organizations and start-ups like Jovoto, Drop.io and Foursquare. As I mentioned before, Social Media Week is designed to be open and inclusive to any individual or organization looking to understand how social and mobile media is impacting society and changing the way that we connect and communicate. Whether you're a speaker or an event host or brand partner or volunteer, there are many different ways that you can get involved. Please visit socialmediaweek.org for more information and also follow our updates in real time on [email protected] Thank you and I really hope you have a fantastic conference.
