Myeong Sook was born in Jeju and started her career as a journalist. She became chief editor at Sisa Journal and at Oh My News until 2005 when she decided to join El Camino to Santiago, Spain. On the way to Santiago she thought Korea was crazy and she agreed with her British friend that her country also needed something like Santiago. She opened Olle in Jeju in September 2007. Soon Olle became a sensation to the Korean society. Olleddicts and Ollepongs are people addicted to this. There are even Ollegrants referring to those who decide to immigrate to the island. There are less fanatic people who are called long-term visitors; they come to walk on the Olle for weeks or for months.
