Hi. My name is Jackie and I am the president of Girls With Guts. My name is Karis and I'm the Vice President of Girls With Guts. I want to show you exactly what Girls With Guts is all about. Hey! My name is Blair Deacon. I am 33 years old and I live in Cleveland, Tennessee. Hi Girls With Guts my name is Alissa Zeldenrust. I am 23 years old. Hi! My name's Melissa Collier and I currently live in San Antonio, Texas. Hi, This is Holly Barnett. I am 34 years old from Stevensville, Maryland. My name is Kimberly Copley. I'm 21 years old, from Dayton Ohio. My name is Alicia Aiello. I am 22 years old, from Philadelphia, PA. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2003. Crohn's Disease in November 2000. Ulcerative Colitis at about age 16. Crohn's Disease In August of 2003. Crohn's Disease June 3rd 2005. Ulcerative Colitis in 2004. Re diagnosed with Crohn's Disease this past summer. Age 30 the doctor removed my colon and uh, I had j-pouch surgery. My j-pouch actually got ruptured. In about two weeks I go to meet with the doctor to talk about a permanent ileostomy. I got my permanent ileostomy in 2010. This flare has been difficult emotionally because I lost my mom due to complications of Crohn's Disease. And that's really why I decided to make this video for Girls With Guts, is all of you have really been an inspiration. Over the years I've looked for places where I could relate or connect to people with my disease. Girls With Guts so far, is the only place where I feel connected to an entire community. This community is what helps people realize that we don't have to be ashamed of our health conditions. We need to all help each other cope with this. I knew I wasn't alone anymore and that's how Girls With Guts helped me. Karis, her story um, I mean it kinda seems like a lot of what I kinda went through. It's a really reassuring feeling to know that there are thousands of women in this community, strangers, who I could reach out to at any point in time. The more we talk about it the more people will know what it is and we wont have such a stigma. It's tough to go through anything like this on your own. And while it's great to have the support of family and friends and a network like that, it's always just great to make a connection with somebody. And just to know that you're not alone. They let me know that I was not the only person in the entire world who had Crohn's. That there were other girls out there who knew exactly what I was going through. Living with Crohn's Disease is really hard. I go through ups and down constantly but I try to make the most of it and Girls with Guts helps me do that.
