Hello Hoxbies!
Welcome to Workstyle Freestyle
with me, Alex Hirst.
And with me, Lizzie Penny.
Today, we are talking about Illness.
And specifically chronic or long-term illness,
which is one of our cause areas at Hoxby.
So, Hoxby's mission to create a happier and more fulfilled society
through a world of work without bias, and
part of that bias is about illness.
You may be surprised to learn that one third
of all people of working age suffer with some form of long-term illness.
So that's you, the viewer, Lizzie and I, that's three of us
so potentially, statistically, one of us has a long term illness.
That's absolutely shocking!
And work can make a huge difference to people with illness,
lots of them shouldn't be excluded from work,
and yet, are, either because their work can't accommodate the flexibility they need
in order to accommodate their illness,
and the difficulties that they may have.
Also from a financial perspective, it can make a huge difference,
and from a fulfilment perspective.
One example is that those who are
unemployed and looking for work due to multiple sclerosis
loose almost 20 working years on average,
according to the MS Society,
which is just unbelievable and it just shouldn't be that way.
This is talented people that want to be engaged in meaningful work
and earn money through it who are currently
excluded from the workforce.
And it's just another of the ways that Hoxby, we are working to
create a.... [#workwithoutbias]
Help us change the world! We need to work without bias, people.
It is the future.
If you can do anything to help us at all
just to make people aware of what we're trying to do here
to create a world of work without bias
and a happier and more fulfilled society as a result.
And if you know someone with a long term illness,
who would be interested in working in a completely flexible way
to suit them where and when they choose
please do pass them on to Hoxby, because we would
love to hear from them.
We sure would.
Thanks for tuning in, we've been Workstyle Freestyle.
See you next time!
Bye bye!
