I went to one of the meetings with CCFA for like um, runnin marathons and like stuff they do. Then that's when I think I ran into Jackie and I'm like, yeah…(inaudible). So I walked up to her and went like, oh and I heard about your-, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, when we first had our first like face to face group you know I came. And I really liked that because it was more personal. Like, I really got a chance to see someone and have a conversation with them and like talk and really meet new friends that you can really like cultivate real friendships with. That they will probably you know, really sky rocket faster because you already have a common bond. I don't know what made me do it but I did a search on Facebook. And that's how I found it. And that's how I got through it. And that's how I've made all these friends. I found the site and I read like every single post and was just shocked by how beautiful and amazing every single person I read about was. And I think that's why so far I've not had a moment where I was ashamed of it or anything like my ostomy or-, "Awesome." Yeah. It was connecting with people and just having those reminders that I'm not alone. What I found with Girls With Guts is like the middle step of like, how are we getting through this together? Or like how can we change or perspectives, together? Um, and so that's really what it is to me is just getting through life. But, not alone. There's no-, there's nothing like being in a room and seeing it and just knowing you're not alone. And being inspired by a variety of stories. People really of all ages, from everywhere, who are doing all sorts of things. Who have kids, who don't have kids. Who like, have ostomies, who don't have ostomies. And you just all the sudden like, feel like you've like fell into your place as opposed to you're like running around fighting your fight. Um, and I think that's just incredibly, incredibly powerful. It's not only uplifting but it's like, it makes you feel like proud of it. Like, that sounds so weird but like instead of being ashamed or embarrassed to like talk about it. It's like you wanna wear a sweatshirt. That's what it's like. You know like what I mean? It's just-. It makes you wanna talk about it and be more open about it and. You know peo-, and people like ask you like oh like what's that? And you, you want to answer instead of having to be like, ugh like I have this horrible thing. Um, it is like, it is like this exclusive club you know and we all understand each other and support each other. It's just, so awesome. Now I was gonna say, cause I was originally diagnosed when I was 26, and you know now I'm 43. And what I would have done you know, all those years ago, to have had that kind of support. I mean this is amazing. You know it just helped me so much to see there are other young women out there in the same situation and they're just happy and they're living their life and they don't let anything define them. And it just like helped me so much. And so I can still be myself and have a great future even though I've been through a lot of bad stuff. It's not everything. There's no subject that's, "taboo". Yeah. Right. It's passion, it's heart, it's love, it's comradery. It's, it's like I said, it's everything.
