Kedah state Government directed Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM)
to monitor sandstone quarries operating in the state.
State government’s Committee on Water Supply, Water Resources and Energy for Housing and Human Development,
Datuk Tajul Hisham Hashim said, the action was taken to ensure quarry contractor obey the existing law.
This is the best mechanism so that SPRM can take action
if the contractor does not follow the law.
State government has received many reports
regarding quarry contractor who does not follow the law.
These causes problems such as destroy existing natural habitat, river pollution and road damage.
State government studies the proposal to increase deposit rate from RM 40,000 to higher amount.
This to ensure this problem does not occur in the future.
