Snails in a hurry. This is a character building story about patience. And one thing we learn about patience is; It's being content to wait. On the banks of a quiet stream in Agapeland lives a snail named Herbert. He lives with his mother and father and all his brother and sister snails. Now as you may know snails are not usually very exciting creatures, They move very slowly and because it takes them so long to get places they don't go to many parties or picnics. They just don't have time. But the snail children do go to one special event every year. The flea brothers flea circus. One year when the day the circus came, mother snail got the children up very early. She polished their shells and curled their antennas. Then with Herbert in the lead, They all headed down the snail trail. They had plenty of time. As they walked, they talked about the circus. "Will there be the flea bad boys?" asked Herbert. They can juggle anything! "I hope the flea clowns are here this year", said his sister. "And the flea trapeze", said older brother. "I guess once they give me yummy snail snacks", said the little snail. He rubbed his tummy. They could hardly wait to get there. Finally they rounded the last bend in the trail. They could see the tops the circus tents for away. But between them and the circus, was a long line of creatures waiting for tickets. Ow there, said the younger snail. Now, we will never get in. I hear the music starting, said the sister snail. We are going to be late! I don't think I can stand in this line a minute longer said Big Brother snail. I've got an idea, let's go around bad of the tents and crawl in there! You mean sneak in?, said little brother. Well, you want to see the circus, don't you? The older snail replied. The other snails agreed to the idea. They were ready to hurry to the tents. Which would have been a funny sight, who ever heard of snails hurrying! But Herbert had a different idea. We just need to be patient he said. He moved forward, short step to keep his place in line. Patience means being content to wait. In fact, I know a little song that will make waiting more fun. Well okay said little sister snail. Teach us the song. You can probably imagine Herbert singing to his brothers and sisters on the trail. When you wait in a line and you stick and survive. * There are things you can do so you won't loose your cool, in the song, so you won't forget. We will pray, and a song, thank the lord in everything. And you see how easy having patience can be! * Add a smile. Take your turn in everything. And you see how easy having patience can be. There is more to the song, if you just sing along. You can spell out the melody. It's so easy so do, every line has a clue. And you start with the letter 'P'. P: prayer, prayer. A: and a song. T: thank the lord. I: in, E:everything. N C: and you see how E: easy having patience can be! P: prayer prayer A: add a smile, T: take your turn I: in, E: everything. NC: and you see how E: easy having, patience can be! * * when you not to worry. It's not so hard to wait. P: prayer, prayer, A: and a song, T: thank the lord in, E: everything. NC: and you see how E: easy having, patience can be! P: pause a while, A: add a smile, T: take your turn I: in, E: everything. NC: and you see how E: easy having, patience can be! Remember, that's patience. Look Herbert, cried the little snail, when the song was over. We are almost there. And he was right! The snails had so much fun with the song, they hadn't noticed the line moving. Suddenly they heard shouting up by the tents. A man was holding two young ants and, talking very sternly. "Saw you were trying to sneak in from the back aye!" shouted. Out you go and don't come back. With that, he pushed the two ants out the circus entrance. "Boy, oh boy!", said the first snail who had first talked about sneaking in. We could have been kicked out, if we tried that! "And, glad we were patient." said the older sister. Thanks Herbert. Soon each snail got a ticket and went into the main circus tent. The jugglers, the clowns and the fleas' trapeze were all there. It was even better than they remembered. The snails decided it was worth waiting for, after all. When you are in a hurry, why is it always so? That someone right in front of you, is being very slow! The next time that it happens and you think you're gonna pop, here's the very thing to do so you will pull it up. Have patience! Have patience! Don't be in such a hurry! When you get impatient, you always start to worry. Remember! Remember! That god is patient too, and think of all the times when others have to wait for you! There is a little secret to waiting patiently, that's when we love each other, it is as easy as could be. Love is always patient, and love is always kind. Love is always willing to be very last in line! Have patience! Have patience! Don't be in such a hurry! When you get impatient, You always start to worry. Remember! Remember! That god is patient too, and think about the times when others have to wait for you! Have patience! Have patience! Don't be in such a hurry! When you get impatient, you always start to worry! Remember! Remember! That god is patient too and think of all the times when others have... to wait for you!
